CNR Sofia 2014

The CNR in Sofia took place from the 30th of January to the 2nd of February. As the last CNR before the Annual General Meeting (AGM) the meeting was packed with proposals to change the Statutes and Standing orders of ESN international. Among some of the most important discussions were the organizational structure of ESN and how to cope with the rapidly expanding network and the new challenges that has arisen with the introduction of Erasmus+. Mainly two problematic areas was exposed. Firstly, because of the rapid expansion of the network the workload of the vice president has been severely increased due to the large amount of internal activities within the network to monitor as well as external responsibilities. Secondly, due to the decentralization of grant opportunities with the introduction of Erasmus+, more time must be devoted to the application process as more grant applications must be submitted in order to obtain the same financial situation. A proposal to add a 6th member to the IB to split up the tasks of the vice president was presented, however it was decided that such a decision might have a vast impact and needs to be more refined before implementation. The proposal was not accepted this time, but highlighted and put into the spotlight some of the most important challenges that the network is facing.
