Wed, 04/24/2024 - 13:55
Erasmus Generation Meeting, Europe’s largest student-led conference, gathered over 1,600 participants from 70+ nationalities to address "Removing Barriers for Active and Equal Participation." This overarching theme was supported by two core pillars: Inclusive international opportunities for all students and young people and participation in democratic life in light of the European Parliament elections 2024.
Held in Spain's vibrant city of Seville, from April 4th to 7th, the event focused on inclusive international opportunities and democratic engagement. Unity in diversity was celebrated through cultural performances and the Flag Parade.
The EGM Expo was an opportunity for ESN organisations to promote mobility programmes and opportunities in their countries. The Mobility Fair also offered space to young people to learn more about mobility programmes and opportunities in Europe and find their next mobility destination.
In more than 170 sessions, we focused on equal opportunities, the fight against discrimination, and active citizenship. Through these discussions, we looked for solutions, shared best practices and advocated for those with fewer opportunities and many minority groups who have barriers to overcome.
Notable speakers, including Ursula von der Leyen, highlighted the Erasmus Generation's role in shaping Europe's future. The conference empowered participants to influence the future of student exchange programmes and fostered a sense of community among the Erasmus Generation.
The event marked 35 years of ESN’s work and celebrated the Erasmus spirit. It showed how students can make a big impact on education and beyond.
